Precautions for production and use

  • Raw material control: the iron content in bauxite directly affects the color, and raw materials need to be selected according to demand;
  • Storage conditions: Avoid wet caking (solid products have strong hygroscopic properties);
  • Dosage test: The dosage should be adjusted according to the water quality (excessive may increase the aluminum ion residue in the water).

 

Material Ratios

Molar Ratio of Al(OH)₃ to HCl

  • Theoretical ratio: 1:3 (Al(OH)₃ : HCl). In practice, excess HCl (10%-20%) ensures complete reaction.

 

Example Ratio:

  • Aluminum hydroxide (≥60% purity): 1 ton
  • 31% industrial HCl: 2.2-2.5 tons
  • Water: Adjust for optimal reaction concentration.

 

Basicity Adjustment

  • The amount of calcium aluminate (or NaOH) per ton of AlCl₃ solution depends on the target basicity (determined empirically).

 

Empirical Formula:

  • Basicity (%)=[OH−]3[Al3+]×100%Basicity (%)=3[Al3+][OH−]​×100%
  • Adjust alkaline additive dosage to achieve the desired basicity.

Safety Protocols

  • HCl is highly corrosive; use protective equipment and add reagents gradually to avoid splashing.
  • Monitor temperature to prevent violent exothermic reactions.

 

Quality Control

  • Test parameters: Basicity (50%-80%), Al₂O₃ content (≥10%), pH (3.5-5.0).
  • Liquid PAC density: 1.2-1.25 g/cm³.

Customization for Applications

  • High-basicity PAC: Increase alkaline additives for high-turbidity wastewater treatment.
