Content (Active ingredient)
- Form: Usually in solid (powder or particle) or liquid form.
- Al₂O₃ content: The alumina content in solid products is generally 10%-18%, and 6%-8% in liquid products.
- Basicity: The basicity (alkalinity) of polyaluminum sulfate is high (usually 40%-70%), which affects its coagulation effect.
Features
Physical properties:
- Appearance: White or light yellow solid, liquid is transparent or slightly turbid solution.
- Solubility: Easily soluble in water, the solution is acidic (pH 2.5-4.5).
- Stability: Liquid products may precipitate crystals at low temperatures and need to be sealed.
Chemical properties:
- Strong hydrolysis: rapidly hydrolyzed in water to produce positively charged aluminum hydroxide colloid, adsorption of suspended matter.
- Efficient coagulation: the flocculation effect is stronger than the traditional aluminum sulfate, the formed alum flowers are large and dense, and the settlement is fast.
- Wide adaptability: The treatment effect of low temperature and low turbidity water is better than that of ordinary aluminum sulfate.
- Corrosion: Strong acid, avoid contact with metal equipment (plastic containers are recommended).
Main use
Water treatment:
- Drinking water purification: removal of suspended solids, colloids, organic matter and some heavy metals.
- Industrial wastewater treatment: suitable for printing and dyeing, electroplating, papermaking and other wastewater, decolorization and phosphorus removal effect is remarkable.
- Sludge dewatering: as an adjuster to improve dewatering efficiency.
Paper industry:
- As a neutral sizing agent, it enhances paper strength, improves water resistance and smoothness.
Textile printing and dyeing:
- Used as a mordant to improve dye fixation rate; Treatment of dye residues in wastewater.
Construction industry:
- Waterproof material additives (such as waterproof mortar).
- Cement accelerator, shorten the concrete setting time.
Other uses:
- Soil amendments (to regulate acidic soil).
